In-demand Brazilian Malcom is “asking questions” about his future, Bordeaux manager Jocelyn Gourvennec has revealed.
And the Ligue 1 boss has suggested the €50million-rated Brazilian will be sold if a suitable bid lands, before quoting Liverpool as a potential destination of choice for the player.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Malcom and reports yesterday from Globo Esporte claimed Arsenal had offered €50million and a five-year contract to the 20-year-old.
Arsene Wenger is desperately searching for a replacement for Alexis Sanchez and Malcom and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are believed to be in his sights.]
Wenger claimed over the weekend “there is nothing concrete” regarding Arsenal’s interest in Malcom, with Liverpool and Man Utd also believed to have enquired about the forward.
Ahead of Tuesday’s league game with Caen, Bordeaux boss Gourvennec admitted Malcom’s head had been turned: “I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people. With Malcom, I go from day-to-day.
“He’s committed. He’s a bit, like he was in the summer. I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.
“He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.”
Gourvennec did though then name Liverpool and added the player would leave if an acceptable offer was lodged.
“If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go. I’m a coach, I’d like to be able to count on Malcom, Malcom has to help us,” added Gourvennec. “There is one person who decides in this, that’s the majority shareholder. He talked about this at the weekend, but football remains football.”
