Bournemouth are eyeing a move for Wolves captain Danny Batth as they seek to bolster their defensive options, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has been busy so far in the January transfer window, bringing in the likes of Juan Iturbe, Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban, and he hopes to bring in a new defender to supplement his squad.

The Cherries have conceded 37 goals in 21 Premier League games so far this season and Howe knows they need to shore up their backline if they are avoid relegation.

Batth came to the attention of Bournemouth while they scouted his former Wolves team-mate Afobe prior to his move to Dean Court earlier this month.

Batth is regarded as one of the best young defenders outside the Premier League after impressing for Wolves during the last couple of seasons.

Wolves are determined to keep hold of the 25-year-old but are bracing themselves for a battle to keep him at Molineux this month.
