Brentford to land former Sunderland defender Egan
Brentford are poised to sign Gillingham defender John Egan, sources have told www.teamtalk.com.
Brentford have held a long-term interest in Egan and saw a bid during the January transfer window rejected by Gillingham for the centre-half.
Egan is out of contract at Gillingham this summer and he has turned down a new deal at the Priestfield to clear the way for a move to Brentford.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in League One after impressing at Gillingham since his arrival on a free transfer from Sunderland in the summer of 2014.
A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in Egan, but Brentford have moved quickly to lure him to Griffin Park.
Gillingham will only be due a a nominal amount when Egan leaves when his contract expires as he is under the age of 24.
