Brighton have rejected a bid from Newcastle for winger Anthony Knockaert, sources have told TEAMtalk.com.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the Frenchman and has targeted Knockaert as he looks to build a side capable of winning promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Knockaert, 24, has established himself as a key performer for Brighton after joining the club last January from Standard Liege.
The skillful winger scored five goals and chipped in with six assists as Brighton missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League on goal difference.
Brighton are keen to keep hold of Knockaert as they look to mount another bid for promotion in the upcoming season and have told Newcastle that the former Leicester star is not for sale.
