Brighton: set to play in Premier League next season for first time

Brighton are set to spend £5million on a facelift for their Amex Stadium in preparation for their Premier League debut next season.

The Seagulls plan to upgrade the floodlights and improve the media and hospitality facilities in readiness for life in the top tier.

Executive director Martin Perry told the club website: “It’s something we’ve been planning for a long time, and the plans have evolved in the past four or five years, as each year the requirements change.

“But we are thrilled that thanks to (manager) Chris Hughton and the players’ achievements we can finally put the plans into action.”

Brighton secured promotion back to the top flight for the first time in 34 years last month.

They will claim the Championship title if they match or better Newcastle’s result, against Barnsley, when they head to Aston Villa on Sunday.
