Bruce slaps £30m price tag on Villa target

Robertson has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Chelsea already this summer, and Bruce is realistic about his chances of keeping hold of the 21-year-old following Hull’s relegation to the Championship.

However, the Tigers boss has suggested Robertson is worth in the region of the £30million it cost Manchester United from Southampton last summer, just a year after moving to the Premier League for £2.85million from Dundee United.

“Luke Shaw went from Southampton to Manchester United after just one season in the top flight for £30m, and I rate Andy on a par with him as a young player with bags of ability and potential,” Bruce said in the Daily Star.

“We have already had calls from clubs asking to be kept informed about his situation, and it might become inevitable that he goes.

“I’ve heard people talking about it taking £12million to buy him.

“That would just about buy his right leg – and the boy is left-footed!

Whatever happens this summer, Bruce has no doubt Robertson will establish himself at the top level for years to come.

“Andy wants to do well, keep on improving, and be a top player,” Bruce added.

“He’s got all that drive in him and he is already one of the best young players in the country, that’s for sure.”
