Arsenal have been linked with Anderlecht striker Aaron Leya Iseka and Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak (again), but don’t get excited.
In a new regular feature, we take a look at the day’s rumours involving Arsenal, separating the wheat from the chaff to save you the trouble…
Manager ready to strike January deal with Arsenal, regular talks with Gunners (Daily Star)
You can always be sure with a vague headline like this that there’s nothing to get excited about, and this article was no exception: ‘Rangers boss Mark Warburton is looking to extend Arsenal teenager Gedion Zelalem’s loan until the end of the season’…juicy!
Arsenal alerted as Monaco consider permanent deal for attacking target (FootballFanCast)
‘Arsenal have been alerted by speculation that Monaco are ready to sign AC Milan loanee Stephan El Shaarawy on a permanent deal, according to reports from talkSPORT.’
The story, originally from Italian newspaper Tuttosport, is that Monaco are now obliged to sign El Shaarawy, for around £10million, after he made his 10th appearance on loan. talkSPORT picked it up, mentioned apparent interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, and before you know it we have an ‘Arsenal alerted’ headline.
Gunners monitoring Anderlecht striker Aaron Leya Iseka (Daily Mirror)
This was the lead story in the Daily Mirror’s daily round up of Arsenal transfer news.
Despite being only 17, Leya Iseka has already made nine appearances for Anderlecht and has ‘caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs’, according to the newspaper.
However, the rumour originated from Calciomercato, who afforded the scoop only 13 words on their website. You also have to question what inside information an Italian website is likely to have about an English club tracking a player in Belgium, but you never know…
Man Utd and Arsenal linked with move for Paulo Dybala (Off the post)
Manchester United and Arsenal could make moves to sign Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, according to the Daily Star.
That is actually true. The Daily Star did write that Manchester United and Arsenal could look to reprise their interest in Paulo Dybala after Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini urged the 21-year-old to leave Juventus. The only problem is, they wrote it on Friday.
Friday’s rumour regurgitated on Monday. It’s all about those clicks, those clicks, no bother.
Arsenal’s midfielder chase (Daily Express)
This came from a round-up of transfer news published at 4.50am. You certainly can’t fault the Express’ commitment to churning out transfer gossip.
Anyway, the rumour, emanating from Fichajes, is that Arsenal will again try for Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak in the January transfer window. Again being the operative word, with the Spanish website claiming the Gunners first tried for the 26-year-old in the summer.
This story was first published on Saturday…which is better than Friday at least.
