Arsenal are yet again linked with a big-money move for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and are eyeing Real Madrid’s Isco…apparently.
In a new regular feature, we take a look at the day’s rumours involving Arsenal, separating the wheat from the chaff to save you the trouble…
GUNNERS PREPARING SENSATIONAL £68M GONZALO HIGUAIN BID? (DAILY MIRROR)
Arsenal transfer rumours aren’t complete without a link to a high profile striker. Having supposedly been interested in every forward to have ever appeared in the Champions League over the summer, the Gunners have reportedly revived their interest in Argentina international Higuain.
Despite Arsene Wenger vehemently insisting he is happy with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as his striker options – and the duo finally repaying his faith with some impressive form – according to Italian outlet Calciomercato the manager is ready to trigger Higuain’s £68million release clause. This would be an astounding change of heart from the Frenchman, who could have signed the former Real Madrid man before the clause was increased towards the end of the summer.
The fact the headline ends with a question mark says everything we need to know.
ARSENAL AND CHELSEA IN TRANSFER BOOST AS REAL MADRID STAR ASKS TO LEAVE THE BERNABEU (DAILY EXPRESS)
Excitingly, the Express are reporting Spain international Isco has told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez he wants to leave Los Blancos. This has put Arsenal – who only last week were linked with a move for the midfielder – on red alert.
However, eyebrows should be raised quickly when it becomes apparent the Express’ source is none other than our favourite Spanish transfer rumour website, Fichajes.
Hopeful Arsenal fans are given a glimmer of hope as the story contains a link back to a previous Express report, written in September, which ‘reveals’ Wenger has demanded the club move for the 23-year-old. The only problem – you guessed it – yet again they cite Fichajes for their insider information.
Still, at least the headline doesn’t question itself this time.
