Tottenham are ready to make a move for former AC Milan hitman Alexandre Pato, according to reports. But are they really?
In a new regular feature, we take a look at the day’s rumours involving Tottenham, separating the wheat from the chaff to save you the trouble…
TOTTENHAM MAKING ALEXANDRE PATO TRANSFER BID IN COMING DAYS (THE METRO)
Harry Kane may have ended his goal drought with aplomb at the weekend, but the England international remains the only out-and-out striker in the Spurs squad, so Mauricio Pochettino could undoubtedly do with some reinforcements.
And so the Metro report that Brazil international Pato, who is currently on loan at Sao Paulo from Corinthians, could be on his way to White Hart Lane in January.
Refreshingly, they do not cite Fichajes as their source. Disconcertingly, they have instead got their information from another Spanish news outlet, TodoMercadoWeb.
Herein we should probably rule this one out. A Spanish website reporting a former Serie A striker who plays in Brazil is interesting an English club.
Only a couple of hours later and the Metro had seemingly changed their mind and were reporting West Ham was a likely destination for the striker, a story which the Daily Mail had ran a day earlier.
Something seems amiss.
