Michael Carrick: Has impressed Jose Mourinho

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick looks set to be rewarded with a 12-month contract extension after impressing Jose Mourinho this season.

The 35-year-old’s current deal runs out of the end of the campaign but talks are believed to be underway and are likely to bring about a successful resolution.

Having started the season out of Mourinho’s starting XI, Carrick forced his way back into the side and made his first Premier League start under the United boss in November.

As a result the Daily Mail claims that the former England star is set to remain at Old Trafford for another season, although that won’t stop Mourinho bringing in midfield reinforcements this summer.
