‘Wenger has bought the wrong players for six years’

Arsene Wenger: Has the Arsenal boss invested well?

Arsenal players don’t suit the current style of play under Arsene Wenger, a reported Chelsea target’s ability is questioned and Michael Carrick should play ahead of Juan Mata in the League Cup final, all in our Your Says of the Day.

Arsenal’s current crop don’t suit Wenger’s style of play

I agree about the current crop of players not suiting the style. That said there are a few players that would suit the style, and as much as I don’t rate him, Rambo is one of those players. Sanchez another, I even think monreal, chambo, caz, welbeck and kos could suit his style. Bellerin would learn a lot more of the defensive side with someone like him. for me he is the standout candidate. Athletics where a mid/tip 7 or 8 team when he took over and now look. He got them playing better a lot better than they were before with players who weren’t exactly world beaters.
Agreed on sampaoli, I can’t see him coming that was just a way to keep Sanchez. Although barca have apparently looked into poch, that would be perfect if they took him off the spuds.

Wenger has bought the wrong players for 6 years

As I’ve stated many times Wenger has actually spent a fortune over the last 6 years the problem is he has bought the wrong players and coached them badly. Many have been dumped without any sell on value, Park had his entire fee written off, Squillaci, Santos, Giroud, Gervinho, Chamack, Rosicky, Arteta, all cost money, were all paid ridiculous wages and all left, or will leave in Giroud’s case, with nothing coming in. I doubt we will get our money back on Ozil and when you add in his wages it’s a colossal amount with nothing in return.

Xhaka has got to be the biggest waste of money ever, he even looked out of his depth against Sutton last night, and no way is Mustafi worth what we paid for him. You can moan about the BofD as much as you like but they can’t be forced out and they have made money available. You’re 100% right Hulk, it’s Wenger’s philosophy that is the problem at Arsenal, he is the one who thinks 4th is like winning a trophy and he has surrounded himself with players who have the same attitude as him, after all he indoctrinated them. All the BofD are guilty of is not sacking him 5 years ago and virtually giving him the control. He runs the club from top to bottom, the BofD’s have facilitated this and that it what they are guilty of. Sorry I’m preaching to the converted but The Stupid One is a lost cause.

What would Arda Turan offer Chelsea?

I can’t imagine Conte wanting Turan. What does he offer? No pace to play in the front 3, not physically built nor does he have the stamina to play in a midfield 2…

Maybe he can be a mascot?

Liverpool struggle ‘when teams park the bus’

Some interesting points but the only team out of all those who set up with 6 at the back were burnley. They set up exactly like hull away, swansea at home, wolves, plymouth and southampton 3 times. These two teams dropped their full backs in beside their centre backs and their wide players dropped in as full backs. Burnley away was an exact replica of the games above i mentioned. We do struggle sometimes when teams park the bus

Hull at home we scored early. It makes such a difference and opened the game up but i do agree wioh some of wehat you say. We really dug out results againest everton, stoke and sunderland especially. We have opened up these teams but we do sturggle aswell. The games in jan were all the same. Opposition waiting for us to make a mistake from a set play and hitting us on the counter. Thats what the worry is/was 5 games nearly in a row, the exact same tactics out doing us. I hope you are right and we kick on from here.

How will Man City line-up against Monaco?

I guess the big hitters will be back tonight.

Kompany isn’t fit for this.Clichy is touch and go also?

Monaco are top of the pile in France, and have scored lots of goals in a poor French league.

Falcao has got 19.How bad was he at United and Chelsea in the two years previous?

From what little I’ve seen of them. We’ll have to keep a close eye on Mbappe.Lemar.Silva.Bakayoko (if all selected)

Plus their Brazilian right back Fabinho. Who we’ve been linked with.

Aguerooooooo

It’s very important for the EPL that City win this tie. Pep has to pick his best players, so no Bravo please. If Monaco are so swift then it may be time to spell Toure. Hopefully Aguero will be up for this one and get a couple of goals. It should be an interesting match. Time not to be caught on the break.

Man City require ‘three quality forwards’

We need at least 3 quality forwards and by that I mean players that are capable of 20 + goals a season , unfortunately we haven’t had that since Mancini left. We need Kun Jesus to share the burden with Sterling stepping up and Sane/KDB contributing as well. PG needs to stop tinkering and produce a settled squad asap.

Carrick over Mata for EFL Cup final

He has to go for it, best team available….avenge the ghost of Bobby Stokes and get his first trophy under his belt.

My guess would be that he’ll play (bloody) Darmian at left back although I wouldn’t. Don’t like Blind there either but he’d my pick. Even though I championed it earlier this year, I was wrong and don’t think Herrera and Pogba work as a midfield two so maybe Carrick in there losing either Mata or Mhihkytrhykrytan. Martial to get the nod ahead of Rashford, who should only start if he’s playing centre forward.
