Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham is reportedly set to join Celtic for £4.5million on a four-year deal.
The France Under-21 star spent the weekend undergoing a medical in Glasgow, having emerged as one of Brendan Rodgers’ top transfer targets.
The Daily Mail reports that Celtic are working to finalise the remaining details before tying up a long-term commitment that will make Ntcham their third summer recruit.
The 21-year-old will follow Jonny Hayes and Kundai Benyu in being added to the Scottish Premiership champions’ squad.
Ntcham has spent the last two campaigns on loan at Genoa and, although the Serie A club opted against making the switch a permanent one, he did receive praise from a former coach.
Andrea Mandorlini was in charge of the Italian outfit for part of last season and has backed Ntcham, who moved to City from Le Havre as a 16-year-old in 2012, to do well in the future.
“Olivier is only a young boy – he has incredible potential and he’ll be a star,’ said Mandorlini.
“He’s had to work hard and there’s more to come from him. ‘He is very, very comfortable on the ball. He scored an important goal for me last season against Bologna in injury time when he came on as a substitute.
“He works hard and he is a happy person – he’s good to be around.
“I feel that when he plays well, the whole team plays well. Above all, he has shown a willingness to listen and to improve. He has a big future if he keeps progressing.”
