Celtic spurred into Jonny Hayes transfer action

TEAMtalk understands Celtic are trying to push through a deal for Jonny Hayes after learning Derek McInnes is hoping to take the player to Sunderland.

Celtic have been heading the chase for Hayes this summer, which has seen Cardiff City drop their bid to land him -although Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest are also looking to do a deal.

The Irish winger is keen on a move to Glasgow, but a move to England could very well be more lucrative to The Dons winger.

Celtic and Aberdeen have been locked in talks over a deal believed to be worth around £1.2million which could also see Bhoys winger Ryan Christie go the other way in a season-long loan.

The Dons had wanted Christie on a permanent basis, but that is unlikely – meaning a loan is probably they will go.

However, McInnes, who could be confirmed as new Sunderland boss by this weekend, is also keen on Hayes, and TEAMtalk understands he will try and make a move to take him to the Stadium of Light.
