Michy Batshuayi: Antonio Conte's first Chelsea signing

Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for a reported fee of around £33million.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract, becoming incoming head coach Antonio Conte’s first signing.

Batshuayi was involved with Belgium’s Euro 2016 campaign, scoring in the 4-0 demolition of Hungary, but he has travelled to Stamford Bridge to officially complete his move to Premier League after Wales ended Belgium’s involvement.

“I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career,” he told Chelsea’s official website. “I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.

“Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have told me many good things about the club, and with Antonio Conte coming in it’s an exciting time to become a Chelsea player.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family, I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League next season.”
