Chelsea have left Papy Djilobodji out of their squad for the Champions League group stages due to their lack of ‘locally-trained’ players.
Clubs have to include a minimum of eight locally-trained players on their 25-man A lists for the Champions League but Chelsea have only six and so had to name a 23-man squad.
Pedro, Radamel Falcao, Asmir Begovic and Baba Rahman have all been included, but Jose Mourinho elected to select Kenedy and Bertrand Traore over Djilobodji, meaning he will have just six defenders to choose from.
Senegal defender Djilobodji, 26, joined the Blues on transfer deadline day from French side Nantes for £4million.
