Chelsea line up new £300,000-a-week deal for Hazard

Chelsea are hoping to extend Eden Hazard’s contract and are willing to pay the midfielder £300,000, according to a report in Belgium.

Hazard’s current deal at The Bridge expires in 2020, but TMW claim he is close to signing a new deal until 2021.

The Blues will also up the 26-year-old’s £200,000-a-week deal to £300,000 to bring him in line with the world’s top earners.

Hazard was back to his best last season as Antonio Conte’s men claimed the Premier League title and he is believed to be on Real Madrid’s shopping list.

Hazard has been linked with Real for the last few years and Don Balon claimed last month that Hazard was desperate to link up with his idol Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital.

Hazard was widely believed to be Zidane’s Plan B if they failed to sign Kylian Mbappe, who sign on loan for PSG.

Hazard returned from a broken ankle and featured for 30 minutes in Chelsea’s 6-0 demolition of Champions League Qarabag on Tuesday night.

Chelsea were understood to value Hazard at £100million at the start of August, but after Neymar’s £198million move to PSG and Mbappe’s loan, which will turn into a £166million transfer next summer, Chelsea may have inflated their value.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is in no doubt about Hazard’s ability, he told BT Sport: “He’s the magic in the Chelsea team.

“If Eden Hazard’s on his game he’s got the magic that we talk about with the Messi’s and Ronaldo’s – he can get towards that level.”
