Antonio Conte believes Chelsea’s squad still lacks the strength in depth of their rivals Manchester City and Manchester United.
Conte’s Chelsea lead second placed Tottenham and third placed City by 10 points in the Premier League standings, with United a further seven points adrift.
And with Chelsea set to lock horns with United on Monday night – this time in the FA Cup quarter-finals – the Italian had his say on which of the two clubs, as well as City, had the strongest squad.
And Conte was adamant that his Chelsea are still some distance behind their two main rivals.
He said: “For the number of players in their squad, I think so. The number of quality (players), also.”
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has moaned about how Monday’s FA Cup clash comes between two legs of the Europa League tie with Rostov.
Conte, however, believes the Football Association have made big concessions for United.
He said: “We could play also Sunday – or Saturday – if the federation decided it. But we are playing on Monday.
“I think that the federation showed great respect for Manchester United to play the last day available to play in the FA Cup.”
