Manchester United are closing in on the signing of midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, Sky Sports claim.
Matic was left out of Chelsea’s squad for the pre-season tour in Singapore; evidence that the player is going to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
José Mourinho is a huge admirer of Matic, in fact it was he who brought the former Benfica man to Chelsea back in January 2014.
They report that the deal “should be done in the next few days” after Serie A champions Juventus gave up on signing the Serbia international.
Sky Italia are reporting Juventus have now prioritised PSG’s Blaise Matuidi and Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims that talks over a deal for Ivan Perisic at Inter Milan “remain at an impasse”, with United unwilling to match the £50m asking price or include Anthony Martial in the deal.
This goes against what the Daily Star Sunday claims, as they say that the Red Devils are on the verge of tying up a deal for the Croatia international after being locked in talks for weeks.
