Chelsea: Failed to hugely impress media despite win

Willian was the only player to receive any real credit from the media following Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev.

Willian scored a fine late free-kick to earn Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night after Aleksandar Dragovic had cancelled out his earlier goal – which came from a Willian cross.

The Brazilian received a mark of 8/10 from his performance from the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and The Times, but no other player received an average mark of even 7/10.

Asmir Begovic was rated as the Blues’ worst player on the night having been culpable for Dragovic’s equaliser, but Oscar also scored an average rating of less than 6/10 despite the Daily Mail awarding him a rating of 7.5. The Daily Mirror said he ‘struggled to make an impact’.

Ramires and Diego Costa were rated as Chelsea’s next least effective performers on the night, but for Jose Mourinho it was an “amazing” night as the home crowd showed their appreciation towards him.
