Manchester United have reportedly agreed terms with Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic ahead of a big-money switch to Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a reunion with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho over recent weeks, with the United chief making no secret of his admiration for the Serbia star, who is set to cost around £20million.
Now the Manchester Evening News claims that the deal is close to being finalized, with Chelsea set to replace Matic with Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Matic’s potential arrival will allow Paul Pogba to have more of an attacking role next season and should also end United’s interest in Tottenham’s Eric Dier.
The England star has been a long-term target for United but with Michael Carrick staying on for another year and Matic also on the books, Mourinho should have enough defensive midfield options – unless, of course, he sees Dier solely as a central defender.
