Leicester City have reportedly told Chelsea that they must pay £40m if they wish to sign Danny Drinkwater.
Chelsea’s plans to bring in at least three new players before the closure of the transfer window are being scuppered by clubs asking for exorbitant fees for their players.
The Foxes are the latest and – according to the Daily Telegraph – they want £40m for Drinkwater; Chelsea have so far bid £15m and are prepared to pay £25m.
The Foxes are in no rush to sell the England international and believe that Chelsea should pay them the same £40m that they received for the older (but better) Nemanja Matic.
Meanwhile, ‘Spurs will only listen to outrageous offers for their injured left-back’ after Danny Rose was heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea in Wednesday’s Sun.
With Juventus standing firm on Alex Sandro, Arsene Wenger very keen to keep hold of Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain and Southampton unlikely to sell Cedric Soares for a reasonable sum, Chelsea’s efforts appear to have ground to a halt.
