Chelsea want Lampard back at Stamford Bridge – report

Chelsea are reportedly willing to let Frank Lampard pick his own job as the former midfielder considers his next career move.

Lampard confirmed on Monday he is leaving New York City FC after a season in MLS, saying he plans to make an announcement over his future “very soon”.

The Mirror claims Chelsea want to bring Lampard back into the fold in a coaching, ambassadorial or mentoring role.

The report says the Blues are wary of making similar mistakes to Arsenal, who have supposedly snubbed Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry after they hung up their boots.

Lampard spent 13 seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring a club-record 211 goals in 648 appearances since joining from West Ham in 2001.
