Ciftci charged for biting

The SFA says the 23-year-old “committed an act of excessive misconduct by biting Jim McAlister upon his leg” during the Premiership match against their derby rivals on May 24.

The Terrors backed Ciftci at the time after he denied the allegation, and in turn the club accused Dundee of “quite severe physical and totally unacceptable verbal provocation” towards their player.

A United statement said: “The club will review the evidence ahead of the deadline on Thursday 25th June once it has received the full documentation from the Scottish FA.”

Ciftci almost served a two-match ban earlier in the season for allegedly kicking Celtic’s Scott Brown on the head during a top-flight encounter in March, but it was rescinded on appeal by the SFA.

Ciftci also missed the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park in January after picking up a sufficient number of yellow cards.

The Turkish forward, who signed from NAC Breda in 2013, rejected a one-year contract extension at Tannadice earlier this month and says he will seek a new challenge when his current deal expires in 2016.
