Leroy Sane: Scored fifth goal in City's win over Monaco

Leroy Sane says he feels “sorry” for a punter who lost £29,000 when the German international scored City’s fifth goal in their incredible 5-3 Champions League victory over Monaco.

German punter Marvin Jorres gambled €2 – around about £1.70 – on a double that City would beat their Ligue 1 opponents 4-3 on Tuesday night and that Atletico Madrid would overcome Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in the other Champions League clash on the night.

It was all going well for him when City came from 3-2 down to lead 4-3 but Sane was to deny Jorres €34,200 by adding another for the Premier League club.

“I was 100 per cent sure that I would win. I thought it was my day. I watched both matches simultaneously,” he told Sky in Germany.

“And when Man City scored the goal I lied down on the floor and didn’t move for five minutes.”

When asked what he would say if he saw Sane, he said: “Hey Leroy. That’s my betting ticket. €34,200.

“Because of your goal it did not come true.”

After finding out, Sane posted on social media: “I read about it in the newspapers…sorry for that poor guy.”
