David Moyes: Upset at lack of a penalty for his side

The Royals have endured a difficult campaign despite their run to the FA Cup semi-final, finishing down in 19th place.

But they ended the season on a high by beating Derby 3-0 to give Clarke a boost going into the summer.

“We have to find the consistency of performance,” he said. “I’ve been reasonably happy but consistency of results is what you’re judged on. This is a good platform and a good indication.

“When I said last week I was 100% confident we wouldn’t be in a relegation battle next year, people looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head. But I know what we have in the group.

“Hopefully we can build on the group in the summer, and next season can be much better for Reading Football Club.”
