Bayern Munich assistant coach Paul Clement has revealed he has rejected the opportunity to be a part of Sam Allardyce’s backroom staff.
The former Derby County manager re-joined Carlo Ancelotti on his new venture in Germany after first working for the Italian during his stint at Real Madrid.
“It is true the England team would have liked to have had me as assistant coach,” Clement told Sport Bild. “There was an inquiry, and it is a huge honour.
“I thought about it but there is so much to do at Bayern that it is incompatible. That’s why, after consulting with the team, I turned it down.”
Sammy Lee is the only confirmed member of Allardyce’s staff so far.
