Cleverley officially joined Everton on Wednesday following the expiry of his Manchester United contract, and Jagielka has welcomed the signing of his England team-mate.
“He’s a really good addition,” Jagielka told evertontv. “He’s a great player – nice and tidy – and will fit into the manager’s thoughts very well. He can play in a number of positions as well.
“I was delighted when he agreed to sign – he joined up with England a day or so later due to the injury to Ryan Mason.
“He’s really excited to come here because it is a fresh start for him. It was nice that he had the chance to go out on loan last season because things weren’t going too well for him at Manchester United.
“He proved a lot of people wrong at Aston Villa – he obviously scored against us which I am sure he will take a little bit of stick for when he comes in!
“He’s a really nice lad who will fit in here straight away, and I’m sure he will have a big part to play next season.
“A lot of players come here and settle very quickly, so I’m sure Tom will be the same.”
