Antonio Conte has refused to rule out a move for Chile international Arturo Vidal and spoke fondly about the midfielder after yesterday’s win over Brighton.
Chile’s La Cuarta publication reported Conte had already made contact with Vidal to urge him to move to England.
Conte wants to be reunited with the Bayern Munich man at the end of the season and the report claims the midfielder could double his alleged current €7.5million salary by agreeing a switch to London next summer.
“I don’t speak about players from other teams’ card,” said Conte.
“I must be honest, it’s not right to talk about a player of another team. Especially if you try to link this player with us.
“But Arturo is a fantastic player, I have a great respect for Arturo, and we spent many years in Juventus together.
“If we go to war, I’d always want him with me.”
Conte and Vidal won three Serie A titles together at Juventus and the Chile enforcer is clearly a trusted soldier of Conte’s.
Vidal’s contract at Munich runs until 2019, but German magazine Kicker claimed last month that the 30-year-old coul be sold by the Bundesliga side.
Vidal left Juventus in 2015, signing a four-year-contract with then-Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola for a fee of €37million.
