Diego Costa is reportedly prepared to spend six months on the sidelines at Chelsea in order to join Atletico Madrid in January.
Costa, 28, is said to have fallen out with manager Antonio Conte after he was sent a text message saying he wasn’t part of his plans for the upcoming season.
Both AC Milan and Juventus have been touted as possible destinations for the striker, but it is understood that he has his heart set on a move back to Atletico Madrid, according to the Daily Star.
Atletico were given a two window transfer ban for breaking rules surrounding the transfer of players under the age of 18, meaning they cannot register players until January 1st.
That means that Costa will either have to move elsewhere, possibly on loan, or stay at Stamford Bridge where he isn’t fancied.
Costa was also heavily linked with a move to China in January.
