Barcelona have seemingly moved ever closer to a move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho after reportedly ending their interest in Ousmane Dembele.
Barca are looking for a replacement for Neymar after the Brazilian joined PSG for a world record £198m, and their shortlist is said to include Juventus star Paulo Dybala, Borussia Dortmund’s Dembele, Coutinho and Monaco hitman Kylian Mbappe.
The Catalan giants were said to be favoring a move for the Dortmund man but reports in Spain claim that they will not pay €110million asking price for the 20-year-old, who has already agreed personal terms to move to the Nou Camp.
Barca are believed to be ready to offer €70million plus add-ons but Dortmund want way more and that will likely lead to the La Liga side switching their focus to another top target.
Coutinho seems more a natural fit for the role that Neymar has vacated at the Nou Camp, although the 25-year-old is also more than capable of playing in a deeper midfield role which could make him better value for money than the three other players suggested as Barca targets.
At he present time it would appear that the Neymar money is burning a hole in Barcelona’s pockets and that a big-money new signing will arrive in Catalonia sooner rather than later.
