Crewe duo set for improved deals

The Alex exercised options to keep Turton and Guthrie at the club and Railwaymen boss Steve Davis now wants to reward them following their progression into the first-team picture.

Turton, 22, made 49 appearances for the Alex last term, while fellow defender Guthrie, also 22, appeared 30 times for the League One outfit.

“We have taken up the year options on Ollie and Jon but I will sit down with them and discuss a new contract with them when they return from their holiday,” boss Steve Davis said.

“We want them to enjoy their short break and get that rest in and then we will sit down with both of them and discuss a new deal.

“I don’t envisage a problem there and that will take place shortly.”
