Frank de Boer’s representative says the Ajax boss “would love” to manage Everton amid speculation Roberto Martinez is nearing the sack at Goodison Park.
Pressure has been increasing on Martinez for several weeks now, with Everton needing to win both of their remaining games and rely on others just to make the top half of the Premier League.
Martinez was again the subject of chants calling for him to leave during the Toffees’ 3-1 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday evening, and the Daily Telegraph says the club could sack the Spaniard this week due to the hostile reception he is sure to receive if still in charge for the final game of the season at home to Norwich City on Sunday.
De Bear and Southampton boss Ronald Koeman are among those reportedly under consideration as Martinez’s replacement, with the former making his interest known via his agent.
“He would love to join a club like Everton or Valencia,” Guido Albers told NOS. “It’s all about the right philosophy and how they play football. That is what Frank is looking for.”
Albers says De Boer is yet to speak to Everton or any other club, adding: “I have told Ajax there is no other club and I have not held discussions with anyone.
“Frank says he now needs to focus on becoming champions, so I do not trouble him.”
