Deila keeps focus on Stjarnan

The Hoops hold a 2-0 advantage ahead of Wednesday’s return match against Stjarnan, and look to be in a comfortable position to progress.

Should Celtic complete the task they will play against Qarabag of Azerbaijan or Rudar Pljevlja of Montenegro in the next round.

That match is finely poised after the first-leg in Baku, where Pljevlja earned a 0-0 draw, but Deila is not concerned with possible opponents for the time being.

Speaking to Celtic TV he said: “That’s the next round. Of course we have to get finished with this one and play a good game on Wednesday, and then we can talk about the other teams afterwards if we get a good result.

“We had a lot of good movement and passing in the game against Stjarnan on Wednesday and I think we should have been more effective.

“But the result was good, I hoped that we would have won by more, but 2-0 is a good result when we go away.”

Celtic will have an extra week of training behind them and will have played another match before facing Stjarnan again, and Deila is confident the players will be prepared.

The Norwegian has taken a strong squad to play Spanish Primera Liga side Eibar on Saturday.

“It will be an interesting game against Eibar and we’re looking forward to playing the game,” Deila said. “We’ll use it as a good training match to get us even fitter, and play a good game.”
