Confident Gerard Deulofeu insists he is a “special player”, but he admits he needs to improve if he is to make a mark at Everton.
The former Barcelona starlet enjoyed a promising loan spell at the Toffees the season before last, and returned to Goodison Park on a permanent basis in the summer.
Having started only four games in all competitions this term, the winger knows he needs to work on certain areas of his game, but he clearly remains convinced he has the ability to impact on the Premier League.
“I’m a special player, I look to do different things – but I also have to follow the instructions of the manager. That’s important to me,” he told The Sunday Times.
“It is finding the blend between doing special things but also being disciplined and playing for the team.
“Nowadays quality is not enough. You have to have an all-round game and I am trying to develop that.
“I have to defend but when I’m defending also stay ready for when we attack and to combine with people like Ross [Barkley], who I always play well with.”
