Stoke forward Mame Diouf has admitted the club will be striving for a higher finish than ninth next season – but admits the club were satisfied to equal their position from last season.
Diouf wrapped up Stoke’s come-from-behind triumph with an 88th-minute header against West Ham on Sunday as the Potters – inspite of a disappointing end to the campaign – held on to a top-half finish.
And the Senegal forward told Stoke City Player: “You always want to do better than last year, and if not then at least match it.
“It’s important that we don’t drop positions and we haven’t done that, so hopefully next year we can do better than ninth.
“And to get the winning goal on the last day of the season is always good. I’m really happy to score it.”
