Man Utd’s summer needs

I think we need Alderweireld. He’s a top class centre back. I know he’s older than we’d like but he’s vastly experienced. Any defence he’s been in has consistently been one of the tightest in whatever league he’s played in. He’s a leader, he talks to his teammates. There seems to be constant communication. In our team at the moment everyone seems to be happy to take care of their little island and to hell with everyone else. We are a loose collection of individuals. We need leaders to come in and bind the team together. To force everyone into collective thought and push everyone along.

Umtiti (CB) from Barcelona for 53m
Fabinho (RB / DM) from Monaco for 50m
Verratti (CM) from PSG for 100m
Leon Bailey from Leverkusen or Lemar from Monaco for 80m

Getting in new players alone won’t make things happen though – we need a new coaching structure that knows how to construct an attacking mentality for the team; Mourinho and his coaches have failed to develop that with some of the best footballers on the planet.

Sympathy for the Devils

Alderweireld and Alonso would certainly bring some experience and quality to the back line. Given high enough offers they might be made available by their clubs, and they’re both premiership proven.

A Brazilian central midfielder would be good, tough tackling, plenty of stamina and the technique to be able to play to ball forward quickly and not afraid to play under pressure. The likes of Fabinho and Casemiro have been touted, of which Fabinho’s more likely to be sold for the right price.

Emre Can criticised

Going back to the thread question, yes he is being a contract rebel, he’s being a twat. If he’s vying for a move then sign a pre contract agreement in Jan so we know for sure but if he’s holding out for more money then bollocks to him; he hasn’t done enough on a consistent level to earn a pay rise. If there’s anyone that needs to be on a performance related scale it’s Can. He has been influential in certain games but, for me, hasn’t provided our back line the protection consistently, that is his priority and duty, zonally, without the ball, so sod off to Juve if you want it. There’s others mids out there.

thats cans biggest problem Rob. He is not aware of whats going on around him. He doesnt track runners and just stands still at corners and never reacts to the 2nd ball.

i would like to keep him. hes a good player who will only getter better. When he is on song, he wins the ball back with ease and gets stuck in. Id try to keep him without a doubt. To inconsistent but you can see the talent he has

Sean the Sailor

Exactly Sean. He’s got some caljones doing what he’s doing because he ain’t earned any stripes yet. Just recently he said: “I’m doing great in England. The Spanish league is also attractive. The same applies to Germany, where tactics are concerned, and the Italian club football, which has recently caught up. Incidentally, the same applies to France, this league has now established itself as one of the best in Europe. Therefore, I do not want to exclude anything because I do not know what I will do from the summer.”

Not much commitment here to the Liverpool cause is there? Sod off and take your truck load of Brillcream with you.

He speaks very highly of LFC in that interview. It’s as simple as he doesn’t have to sign a new contract & is free to do what he wants when his contact with us expires. For what we paid for him & what his wages are he’s done a half decent job.

Chelsea rumours cause worry

If Courtois and/or Hazard don’t want to stay, we have no way to force them and we have to try not to end up like Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez. I do want both to stay, but if they don’t want: let’s get the money quickly and get adequate replacements.

For Courtois, there are candidates I guess (in order): Oblak, Donnarumma, Areola. Please no swap Courtois – Navas though.
For Hazard, it will be more difficult. I haven’t seen him play but I think Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham could be the next star according to what I read? We can try Bale too, Real would sell him I believe. Another name would be Griezmann but we won’t have him for cheap.

I still hope Conte stays even though it’s less and less likely. Especially if we miss the top 4, which is likely. I don’t think FA Cup can save him, and I don’t even want to get there at the moment. Southampton in the semi may be doable but Man Utd/Spurs in case we go to final? Big task to ask seeing our dismal record against top 6 teams

Do we really need another CB…?

There is no doubt that Alderwierald is a quality player but as it stands today we do have Rudiger, Christensen, Dave, Cahill, Luiz and Ampadu on our books. We are expecting to get Zouma back and I presume Clarke-Salter as well (2 reds recently at Boro though…?) plus a couple of others on loan as well

Seems to me that regardless of whether we play 3 or 4 at the back we have adequate cover plus the ability to let the kids get some game time

Obviously the likes of Cahill, Luiz and Zouma may not want to stay if they are not playing in which case extra cover would be required but that is an issue to be addressed if and when it occurs

IMO, I do not think this is an area of concern based on what we know to date. KTBFF

We have already rushed to sell young players on the back of a few performances. and then we live on to regret that decision. personally selling Zouma isn’t a good choice given the potential he has shown before his terrible injury. i can’t see him playing in back 3. but if Conte leaves which nailed on. then i can see him and Luiz staying at Chelsea and trying to salvage their careers. for Luiz he was a good defender until he has fallen out with Conte. and we are reaping the reward of that fallout. as for Zouma Stoke as a team has been poor this season. i think if we loan him to a solid midtable team next season. then he will have a good season and the injury could be offer. but Alderwierald is 29 yrs old. so if we are signing him, i wonder why we are selling Luiz who is only 12 months older, and is CFC through and through. just get the right coach for him and we can save €50m for ourselves.

My big concern in respect of the forthcoming Summer transfer window and all of the players currently being linked to us is whose drawn up the hit list of players to sign and the players to go when we have no DOF and the Manager’s position at the Club is so uncertain.

I accept that if we stand still and do nothing we might not get our targeted players but who is making the recommendations if it’s not Conte and not the DOF could it be the new Manager whoever that might be?

You would hope against hope it’s not Marina and that if it is Conte he’s not created a hit list that someone else will have to inherit and have to do their best with again.

If we are actively pursuing targets now you would hope that it’s being done on the recommendation and approval of whoever will be managing the team next Season and that they have a background in football and a real understanding of our needs.

World Cup ‘excitement’

It’s a farce for many reasons other than VAR. The world cup has become a joke. Political show business with nothing whatsoever to do with sport in it’s true sense. I wouldn’t care one iota if all international matches were abandoned. I only care about my club and whether England beat France or Brazil beat Argentina is of no interest to me at all

nediarb2

Have to agree VAR has been a farce, but as far as the Spurs goal against Swans it was the correct decision given by the lino, but then checked on VAR, there is one recurring issue and that is the fans in the stadium not knowing what is going on, or being able to see the VAR in action. The other problem on Saturday was the VAR misleading people watching on the telly, they put the line along Son and the defenders feet, but people that know the rules could see that his knee was in front of his foot, so even though his foot was in line his knee was offside meaning he was offside.
