Belgium, who were as low as 68th in 2010, have moved above Argentina into second – their highest position – behind world champions Germany.

Switzerland have fallen from ninth to 11th, allowing next year’s European Championship hosts France to move back into the top 10.

England have fallen one place, despite winning seven and drawing one of their last eight games since the 2014 World Cup.

Wales have also fallen one place to 22nd ahead of their European Qualifier against Belgium next week, with the two sides level on points at the top of Group B.

Scotland and Northern Ireland have both fallen two places to 28th and 44th respectively, while the Republic of Ireland have risen by the same margin to 60th ahead of their friendly with England on Sunday.
