Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier have both backed Dele Alli to shine for England if he gets his chance to shine on Friday evening.
Alli has impressed in the Tottenham midfield so far this season, with his form earning him a first senior call-up into Roy Hodgson’s squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia at Wembley.
Alli is not expected to start on Friday, but could get a chance off the bench and will also hope to feature in Monday’s final Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania on Monday.
Asked whether Alli, 19, would succeed at international level, Eriksen told the London Evening Standard: “Definitely. He has shown what he is capable of in the last few games and he is one of the young lads coming through. We are all really happy for him.”
Eriksen’s words were echoed by Dier, Alli’s central midfield partner at Spurs who is also believed to be close to full England selection.
The pairing between Dier, 21, and Alli is one of the youngest in recent times for Spurs but the early results are encouraging for head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Dier said: “He is a very exciting young footballer. Hopefully he can enjoy it with England.”
