England’s squad for the European Championship has the lowest average age of any at the tournament, with the Republic of Ireland naming the oldest group.

Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad includes a teenager in 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, 20-year-old Dele Alli, 21-year-old Raheem Sterling and four 22-year-olds – Harry Kane, Ross Barkley, Eric Dier and John Stones. There are only four players aged 30 or over.

The Republic of Ireland’s squad on the other hand has the highest average age, 29.8 years. ¬†Martin O’Neill has selected 11 players aged 30 or over and only one under the age of 24.

Wales are the seventh youngest group at 27.3 years, while Northern Ireland are further down the scale at 28.5 years.
