Euro Paper Talk: £97m United target set for talks; Liverpool eye keeper

A top Manchester United strike target is set for new contract talks with Inter Milan, while Liverpool have been linked with a Real Madrid goalkeeper again, according to Tuesday’s European papers.

ICARDI SET FOR INTER CONTRACT TALKS

Much sought-after striker Mauro Icardi is set to meet with Inter Milan officials this week in order to sort out his contract renewal.

The Argentine attacker endured a prolific first half of the season as he notched 19 goals but his form has since dipped, potentially due to continued rumours over his future.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the 25-year-old will discuss a new deal this week, although his wife and agent, Wanda, is pushing for more than €8-million-a-year, which could cause an issue for Inter in terms of Financial Fair Play.

The Serie A giants are trying to fend off interest from United, Real Madrid and PSG in the player who is rated at €110million.

LIVERPOOL LINKED WITH NAVAS AGAIN

Liverpool want to solve their goalkeeping problem with the acquisition of Keylor Navas, claims a report.

Diario Gol report that Florentino Perez wants the 31-year-old out of the club and Liverpool have again emerged as potential suitors.

Jurgen Klopp is looking for a new no.1 after dropping Simon Mignolet, who looks set to leave Anfield in the summer.

Navas, 31, has been linked with Reds before. The same source, in November, claimed the Costa Rican was on Klopp’s wanted list, while the Spanish outlet have also previously claimed Arsenal are looking at Navas.

Navas has made 16 La Liga starts and is Zinedine Zidane’s no. 1, but the player’s agent is believed to be looking for a new club, with Navas and Perez reportedly not seeing eye to eye.

RONALDO ISSUES FIVE-MAN WANTED LIST

Diario Gol report that Cristiano Ronaldo wants five new players in at Real Madrid this summer after a disastrous La Liga campaign.

The Portuguese forward has reportedly handed a five-man wish-list to Florentino Perez to get the capital club back on track domestically.

Harry Kane is the man he wants to replace Karim Benzema. David De Gea or Thibaut Courtois is wanted by Ronaldo in goal and Alvaro Odriozola is also in demand to give competition to Dani Carvajal.

Leonardo Bonucci is also on Ronaldo’s radar as a replacement for Pepe and Valencia star and Portugal team-mate  Goncalo Guedes is also on his list.

LIVERPOOL BOOSTED AS VALENCIA PASS ON CHANCE TO SIGN FRANCE STAR

Valencia have not yet decided whether they will sign Geoffrey Kondogbia on a permanent basis this summer – news that has reportedly put Liverpool at the front of the queue to land the Frenchman.

Kondogbia joined the La Liga side on a €10m season-long loan from Inter Milan last summer – with the deal including an option to make the move a permanent €25m deal at the end of the season.

But according to Marca, Valencia remain unsure about making the move permanent with owner Peter Lim yet to decide what the club will do in the summer window.

It’s suggested because Valencia have several players on similar agreements, they could look to prioritise these first and pass on the chance to make Kondogbia’s stay permanent.

And it’s claimed by Don Balon as a result that would let in other suitors – with Liverpool set to move into pole position for the 25-year-old defensive midfielder.

The Reds are in the market for a new central midfielder amid mounting fears that Emre Can will walk away from Anfield on a free transfer this summer. Real Madrid became the latest club linked with the in-demand German on Tuesday.

The Reds have been linked with moves for Leicester’s Wilfried Ndidi, while Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure was mentioned as a target on Tuesday.

However, Jurgen Klopp has a long-standing interest in Kondogbia and a move for the former Monaco and Sevilla man would make plenty of sense if the price is right, despite claims from China that Guangzhou Evergrande are interested in him too.
