Euro Paper Talk: Roma make Alisson admission; Arsenal’s Modric lift

A representative of Jorginho says Napoli could leave it too late to offer the midfielder a new contract, while Monchi insists there have been no approaches for Alisson, all in Euro paper talk.

NO OFFERS FOR ALISSON

Roma  say they have not received a proposal, never mind a bid for Liverpool and Real Madrid target Alisson.

The Serie A club’s sporting director Monchi has denied there has been a bid for the in-demand Brazilian keeper after reports emerged last week of a rejected €40million offer from Napoli.

Don Balon recently claimed Liverpool were ready to test Roma’s resolve to keep Alisson by launching a massive €80million (£70.5m) offer to the Serie A giants.

However, Monchi has insisted Roma have not received any offers for the “happy” 25-year-old.

“We are not afraid of losing Alisson,” Monchi told Mediaset Premium.

“He is happy to be here with us and we are happy with him. What you read in the papers isn’t always true.

“We don’t know of any offer and certainly haven’t received any proposal.

“I speak to Alisson every week, he is happy and wants to do important things here at Roma.”

JORGINHO WARNING

A representative of Jorginho has warned Napoli they need to offer the midfielder a new deal sooner rather than later.

Manchester United and Liverpool are understood to be tracking the 26-year-old Italy international, whose contract expires in 2020.

Napoli are believed to be planning to offer the highly-rated player a new contract, but nothing has been forthcoming so far and his representative Joao Santos, has tried to hurry things along.

Santos told Italian radio station Radio Crc: “Jorginho has been playing an important role inside the dressing room for four years and is playing the kind of football he likes under Sarri, while also improving.

“Playing in the national team, fighting for the Scudetto, it is clear he has many first class suitors.

“He has two years left on his contract, but soon it will be necessary to start talking about a renewal as later it becomes more dangerous to negotiate and expires.”

MAN UTD TO BRING IN CHELSEA STAR AS SHAW REPLACEMENT

Some of those Spanish newspapers love a good transfer story and Monday’s Don Balon is no different.

They claim Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has agreed a shock £70million deal with former club Chelsea to sign Spanish wing-back Marco Alonso this summer.

They claim the former Bolton and Sunderland man is being chased by Barcelona, but with finances tight at the Nou Camp, it is United who look set to win the race to sign Alonso.

According to the report, Alonso only earns £90k a week at Stamford Bridge, but has been promised a huge pay rise by joining United, with the club set to make him an ‘offer he can’t refuse’ to make the move north.

It’s claimed Mourinho has identified the Chelsea man as his No 1 target to replace the struggling Luke Shaw, and wants the Spaniard ahead of other targets Ryan Sessegnon, Danny Rose and Alex Sandro.

There’s no mention of the fact the Blues would be loathe to lose one of their most consistent stars to United for the second summer running, but it certainly makes interesting reading and one would assume any sale of Alonso would finally give Chelsea the green light to finalise their own long-standing interest in Juventus star Sandro.
