Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd chase Barcelona ace; Spurs Lemar blow

Michael Graham

Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Portugal star, while Arsenal and Tottenham both suffer potential transfer blows, according to today’s rumours from the continent.

MAN UTD TRACK BARCELONA MIDFIELDER

Manchester United retain an interest in Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes and may launch a second attempt to land him this summer, report AS.

The Portugal star joined Barcelona last summer from Valencia in a deal costing more than £40million, rejecting Manchester United in the process.

However, he struggled for game-time at the Nou Camp and his prospects of establishing himself at the club look even bleaker given Barcelona’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Veratti.

That is expected to open the door again for United, who could be aided by the fact that Gomes shares an agent with boss Jose Mourinho.

JUVENTUS ENTER LEMAR RACE

Tottenham have been dealt a potential blow in their chase for Monaco star Thomas Lemar by Juventus showing a serious interest in completing a deal.

Lemar has been linked with Spurs for weeks as reports mount that Mauricio Pochettino has identified the 21-year-old as a key piece of his plans to launch a Premier League title bid next season.

Juventus’ interest, however, will not be well-received in North London, with the Corriere dello Sport claiming that talks are already underway with Monaco about a possible deal that would see Lemar head to Turin instead.

INTER LOOK AT PSG SWAP DEAL

Inter Milan are interested in taking reported Arsenal target Blaise Matuidi to Serie A, which could also represent bad news for Manchester United’s transfer plans.

The Gazetta Dello Sport report that Inter are very serious about signing the midfielder, and may be willing to offer United target Ivan Perisic in return.

PSG are known admirers of Perisic, although any deal may suffer from the same troubles that are dogging Man Utd’s pursuit of the player.
