Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool enter race for €40m Benfica star

Manchester United will bow to the wishes of an unhappy star and have opened talks over his sale, while Liverpool will battle Jose Mourinho’s side for a €40m-rated Benfica star, according to Thursday’s European papers.

UNITED READY TO SANCTION DE GEA SALE AND TELL REAL ASKING PRICE

Manchester United will reportedly agree to let David De Gea move on this summer after the player expressed his frustrations at the club’s Champions League failure this week.

Marca claims the player has told his agent Jorge Mendes to get him a move away from Old Trafford, with Mundo Deportivo going one step further in claiming United have told chief suitors Real Madrid they want €100million for the keeper.

The papers suggest Florentino Perez has been given renewed hope of landing his long-term target from United and has opened talks with the English side over a summer switch for De Gea.

Their interest in De Gea is nothing new, but if the player truly does want to leave, United may have to relent to the player’s wish and allow him to move on and it would be no surprise to see the club target moves for one of Toni Kroos, Raphael Varane or even Gareth Bale before they sanction the sale of their prized asset.
