Euro Paper Talk: New Griezmann suitor; PL target wants Barca stay
A new suitor has emerged for a major Manchester United target, while Jorge Mendes wants a United, Tottenham and West Ham target to go to Juventus, all in the Euro papers.
PSG ENTER RACE TO LAND MAN UTD, BARCA TARGET
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly entered the race to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
The France international has been the subject of so much speculation over his future but a proposed switch to Manchester United failed to materialise during the summer.
La Liga rivals Barcelona have also shown an interest, although they are thought to be debating whether to pay Atletico’s huge asking price for the player.
Despite splashing out a world record £198million to land Neymar in the summer, with another huge fee said to be agreed with Monaco for on-loan attacker Kylian Mbappe, PSG are still looking to strengthen further as they aim for Champions League glory in the coming seasons.
Calciomercato reports that Griezmann himself may also be tempted by a return to his homeland, although Jose Mourinho and United may have something to say about that.
AGENT PUSHING FOR JUVE MOVE FOR GOMES
Andre Gomes’ agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly pushing for his player to move to Juventus, according to a report.
CalcioMercato reports that Mendes is pushing for a loan deal in January, with an option to make the deal a permanent one.
Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has told Gomes that he is only a back up midfielder at the Camp Nou and Mendes wants the player to move on.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino had been hoping to land the midfielder on loan on deadline day in August but the deal fell through after Barca pulled the plug as they could not find a suitable replacement.
West Ham, Manchester United and Inter Milan have been linked with the 24-year-old.
REAL MADRID BEAT HOST OF SUITORS TO INTER STAR
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid next summer, according to various reports.
Former Milan forward and Premium Sport commentator Daniele Massaro claims the in-demand Inter Milan forward has already agreed terms on a switch to the Bernabeu next summer and will move to Spain ahead of rival interest from Bayern Munich, Arsenal and PSG.
The Argentine has been in devastating form this season, netting 13 goals in 15 outings for the Nerazzuri and former Italy international Massaro told Marca and Diario Gol the player is destined to move to the Bernabeu.
“I can tell you today that Mauro Icardi will be a Real Madrid striker next year,” Massaro said.
“His arrival will be at the expense of (Karim) Benzema.”
Icardi, 24, joined Inter from Sampdoria four years ago and has scored 91 goals during his time with the club.
He is rated in the £100million bracket and his signing for Real Madrid will likely signal the end of Benzema’s eight-year stay at the Bernabeu.
