Manchester United are ready to spend big money on another Atletico Madrid star, while a Tottenham flop is set for a £22m switch to French giants Marseille, according to Thursday’s European papers.
UNITED CONFIDENT OF SEALING JAN OBLAK DEAL
Manchester United are confident of securing a £85m deal for Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak, according to sources close to the player.
The 24-year-old Slovenian, who has been named La Liga’s best goalkeeper for the second consecutive season, has an £85m minimum release clause in his contract and his agent has been actively looking to move his client on, according to reports in Spain.
In addition, the Manchester Evening News suggests Oblak’s agent’s held talks with Jose Mourinho back in March and United remain favourites to sign the player ahead of fellow suitors PSG.
And it’s claimed United have agreed to pay the full asking price for Oblak should Real Madrid prise David de Gea away from Old Trafford this summer.
Despite reports they had ended their interest in De Gea on Wednesday, United still fear Real will come back in for the keeper.
And while their city rivals Atletico have a transfer ban that prevents them signing players, the suspension would not prevent player sales – giving United further encouragement over a deal for Oblak.
BAYERN READY TO MATCH SANCHEZ WAGE DEMANDS
Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to match Alexis Sanchez’s wage demands in a bid to snatch the striker from Arsenal this summer.
Sanchez’s future continues to be a major talking point at The Emirates, particularly with the Chile frontman being out of contract next summer, and, according to Kicker, Bayern are willing to pay the 28-year-old £21.7m-a-year to tempt him to the Bundesliga.
The Gunners would certainly prefer Sanchez to head to Germany, but the player himself is said to favour a switch to Manchester City.
Arsenal would prefer to cash in on their talisman, rather than lose him for nothing in 2018, but will have a a difficult decision on their hands if Sanchez insists that he wants to head to a Premier League rival.
ATLETICO STILL HOPEFUL OF BEATING ARSENAL TO STRIKER
Atletico Madrid have not given up hope of signing Arsenal transfer target Alexandre Lacazette this summer, despite their transfer ban.
The Spanish giants cannot sign players until January next year after losing their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for breaching rules on signing Under-18 players.
That seemed to open the door for Arsenal to move in for Lyon hitman Lacazette, who had reportedly agreed terms to join Atletico before the appeal was rejected.
According to the report in AS, Atletico are hopeful that Lacazette, 26, will be prepared to spend six months settling into life in Spain and learning the language before eventually taking to the pitch early next year.
Liverpool are also rumoured to be in the running for a player who scored 28 goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season and is valued at around £50million.
