Euro Paper Talk: Chelsea to pounce after £30m man snubs Zenit medical

Chelsea are set to pounce for Roma defender Kostas Manolas, with heavy competition for Juve defender Alex Sandro and Liverpool target Naby Keita has a release clause of just €55m in his contract, all in the European papers.

CHELSEA TO POUNCE FOR MANOLAS

Chelsea are reportedly ready to swoop for Roma star Kostas Manolas after the defender failed to show for his medical with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The centre-back was due to arrive in Russia for his medical today, but did not show and is believed to have pulled out of a £30million transfer.

Apparently Manolas, 26, wanted paying in Euros and not in Russia Rubles because he was worried about the volatility of the Russian currency.

Now, according to Premium Sport, Chelsea are plotting a move for the player they have been tracking for some time.

PSG TRYING TO HIJACK SANDRO DEAL

Paris Saint-German are trying to hijack Chelsea’s move for Juventus defender Alex Sandro, according to reports in Italy.

Chelsea are keen on left-back Sandro and have reportedly lodged a bid in the region of £60million, but according to Italian outlet GianlucaDiMarzio the Ligue 1 giants are also in the race.

The report suggests the French club “have a good working relationship with the Serie A champions” and are hopeful of luring the player to France.

KEITA HAS €55m RELEASE CLAUSE

Liverpool target Naby Keita will not leave RB Leipzig this summer, according to a Kicker journalist.

Oliver Hartmann in a Q&A with the Liverpool Echo was insistent that the £80million midfielder will stay with the Bundesliga side as they plot a path in the Champions League.

They claim reports that Leipzig would have considered selling the former Salzburg man this summer as false and that they are intent on keeping their best players.

Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick  has apparently stated that Keita is not for sale, but the report does suggest Keita can leave next year for approximately €55million due to a clause in his contract.

That attractive looking price tag will though attract other suitors and Bayern Munich are understood to be keen on trying to sign the 22-year-old next summer and will provide stiff competition for Liverpool.

Keita joined Leipzig for £12.75m move from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg last summer.
