Zinedine Zidane has managed to persuade Monaco star Kylian Mbappe that a move to Real Madrid is the right one, while an Arsenal defensive target has chosen to join Zenit, according to Sunday’s European papers.

Zidane convinces Mbappe to sign for Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has convinced Monaco star Kylian Mbappe to swap the French Riviera for the bright lights of Madrid, according to reports.

Mbappe has been in-demand following a superb breakthrough campaign that saw him score 26 goals in all competitions for Monaco as they won Ligue 1 and progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid are just some of the clubs that have been linked to the 18-year-old over the past few months, with the La Liga champions reportedly winning the race.

French publication L’Equipe claims that phone conversations with Zidane may now have been enough to persuade Mbappe that a move to the Spanish capital is right for the youngster.

Manolas chooses Zenit St Petersburg move

Arsenal target Kostas Manolas is close to joining Roberto Mancini at Russian side Zenit St Petersburg and could be followed by his Roma team-mate Leandro Paredes, according to reports.

The Greek defender has been linked with a move to the Gunners for months but interest from Inter Milan and Zenit has been stronger as the 26-year-old ponders his future.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Manolas is on the verge of completing a transfer to Zenit for a reported £26million after deciding on the right move.

While Goal.com reckons that the Greece international snubbed interest from Inter Milan after the Serie A side delayed finalising the transfer.

Arsenal have been looking to strengthen the centre-back area of their side with Shkodran Mustafi not having the most convincing first season in the Premier League.
