Euro Paper Talk: Spurs eye Malaga striker; Liverpool want Costa

Tottenham are chasing a young Spanish striker, Liverpool are battling Juventus to sign a Brazilian star, while a contender to replace David De Gea at Manchester United is emerging as a target for Lazio, according to Monday’s European press.

Juventus are reportedly emerging as Liverpool’s main rivals in the race to sign £35m-rated Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa.

The Brazilian winger is reportedly at loggerheads with Bayern over what he deems a ‘lack of respect’ over their refusal to open new contract talks with him. As such, the player has emerged as a reported target for Tottenham.

However, Tuttosport, via Calciomercato claim it is Liverpool who are leading the chase for the 26-year-old, with Juventus are also ready to make a move.

Costa has been in and out of the Bayern side this season and president Uli Hoeness recently hinted the player could be allowed to leave by suggesting every player has their price in reference to the Brazilian’s future.

Hoeness has also warned Costa that the Bavarian giants will not be bullied into offering new deals to players, making the chances of him leaving the club this summer all the more probable.

Manchester United’s plans to bring in Genoa keeper Mattia Perin have suffered a blow after Lazio emerged as favourites to sign him.

The 24-year-old, who been out since January with a serious knee injury, has been heavily tipped to replace David De Gea as Old Trafford No 1 next season with De Dea tipped to return to La Liga and (finally) sign for Real Madrid.

And with United looking unlikely to persuade Milan to sell 18-year-old sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jose Mourinho was thought to be keen on a deal for once-capped Italy international Perin.

Despite suffering an ACL injury in January ruling him out for the rest, the Italian media believes the player will still be in demand come the summer and reckon Lazio have the edge over Manchester United in the £20m race to sign him.

Tottenham are looking to sign Sandro Ramirez from Malaga this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The striker, a target for Mauricio Pochettino last summer, has impressed since leaving Barcelona and moving to Malaga, where he has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances this season.

The forward, still only 21, left Barcelona after failing to win a regular place in the side past Luis Suarez, Neymar and the ‘best player ever’ Lionel Messi.

But his reputation has soared since switching to Malaga and it’s reported the striker has a bargain release clause of just €6m (£5.1m) in his contract.

Spanish publication Sport claims Spurs are ready to exploit that exit fee and bring the player to North London this summer as cover and competition for Harry Kane.
