Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has not travelled to Florence – where Michel Vorm will deputise in his absence – after injuring his shoulder in Sunday’s win at Manchester City.

Provisional squad: Vorm, McGee, Walker, Rose, Trippier, Davies, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Carter-Vickers, Winks, Dembele, Dier, Alli, Mason, Carroll, Bentaleb, Eriksen, Onomah, Chadli, Lamela, Son, Kane.

FC Midtjylland v Manchester United, 6pm

Wayne Rooney has joined Manchester United’s lengthy injury list with a knee problem it is understood will sideline him for around six weeks.

The number of senior United players unavailable currently stands at 12, with Rooney, Marouane Fellaini (muscle injury) and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (illness) having become part of that group since Saturday’s loss to Sunderland, in which Matteo Darmian was added with a dislocated shoulder.

Louis van Gaal has called up several young, inexperienced players for the last-32 first leg in Herning, Denmark, including Donald Love, Regan Poole, Joe Riley, James Weir and Will Keane.

Squad: De Gea, Romero, Love, McNair, Smalling, Blind, Poole, Riley, Carrick, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Pereira, Weir, Mata, Memphis, Martial, Keane.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is fit again after a minor hamstring problem and has been included in the squad which travelled to Augsburg.

Defender Dejan Lovren is not with the squad after flying home to Croatia because of a family illness.

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Sturridge, Firmino, Ward, Caulker, Flanagan, Lucas, Brannagan, Ibe, Teixeira, Benteke, Origi.
