Exclusive: Aberdeen winning the race to sign ex-Boro forward

TEAMtalk understands Aberdeen are hoping to win the battle to land former Middlesbrough forward Junior Mondal.

The 20-year-old was surprisingly released by Boro earlier this summer, and a host of clubs in England from the Championship down to League Two have expressed an interest.

There has also been interest from America and Portugal, but Mondal is now set to link-up with The Dons, who believe he could be a huge signing for them and help replace Jonny Hayes, who left for Celtic earlier this summer.

Teessider Mondal can play as a winger or a striker, but he struggled withe injury last season and made just one EFL Trophy appearance, whilst making 20 appearances for the in Premier League 2.
